FROM THE ARCHIVES | NBC new anchor, Brian Williams is one of the nicest people I’ve photographed and he has a great sense of humor. Seeing THIS made me laugh out loud — Brian Williams Raps Snoop Dogg’s ‘Nuthin’ But A ‘G’ Thang’ in ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ Mashup. Brilliant editing!

FROM THE ARCHIVES | The smell of fire this morning reminded me of Africa. I breathed it in. Five years ago this month I travelled to Tanzania; a trip that changed my entire world. The smell of fire in the air took me right back to the moment of getting off the plane in Dar es Salaam — literally, “The abode of peace”— with the smell of fire all around me. It was powerful and the smell of fire somehow felt healing.

My daily stroll | Every single May the Jacaranda trees take my breath away. They are bursting with blooms this week. It has become my favorite tree and I try to savor their beauty as it seems to be one of the markers in Southern California that feels not unlike seasons.

FROM THE ARCHIVES | At 12:04 AM, my oldest friend, Katy (and my first muse) became a mother. In high school we would make up photo shoots for fun. She was the model/stylist. Me, the photographer. We’d pore over Harper’s Bazaar –in the good ole days of Liz Tilberis and Fabien Baron – for inspiration. Today, this is how we make a living in NYC and LA.
Here’s a few images from the archives that span over a decade – from Tennessee to Africa to Italy to NYC and one of my favorites, California circa 1998. We watched the sun set in honor of her father, Kent Robbins.
